Introduction

Every child in Cameroon needs their very own academic textbooks each academic year. Usually, it is difficult to get them because of one or more of the inexhaustive list below:

• The academic textbooks are scarce,
• The parent does not know exactly where to get the academic textbook,
• The parent does not have enough money,

There is nothing CTBN can do for the last point, at least for now, but CTBN solves the first two problems quite efficiently.

In the first case where the textbooks are scarce, suppliers from all over Cameroon can make the textbooks they have available for every parent, no matter where they are. How does this help? Easy! Just because it is scarce does not mean it is finished. If there is a supplier in Cameroon that has that textbook, you will most likely find it here on CTBN.

In the second case, well, pretty much the same as the first case, all you need to do is search for your textbooks on CTBN. Depending on who you are (supplier and supplier profile, or customer), the actions you perform on textbooks will be done differently.

The pages under the “Textbooks” pane are mainly for the actions performed by suppliers and their profiles who have the “textbooks” task assigned. For actions performed by customers, please visit the page on textbook groups.

We have 2 sections in Cameroon when it comes to education; the English and French sections of education. Depending on the section you chose when you created your account (English, French, or Mixed), you will see either one or both in your dashboard under the “Textbooks” pane.

Attributes of a textbook

Every textbook, no matter which section it is in, has 6 major attributes on CTBN which include the following:

• The name of the academic textbook,
• The section of the academic textbook (English or French),
• The class of the academic textbook (a dropdown list with the various classes is available for you to choose from),
• The quantity, or the amount of copies of the academic textbook you have,
• The unit price of a copy of the academic textbook,
• The publisher of the academic textbook.

Note: The correctness of the name, quantity, unit price and publisher of the academic textbooks is your own responsibility. This means that you will have to make sure that they correspond to the required academic textbooks list issued every year by the entity responsible for it. The section can either be English or French. As for the classes, you must use them as-is on the lists below:

English section: Prenursery, Nursery 1, Nursery 2, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Class 4, Class 5, Class 6, Form 1, Form 2, Form 3, Form 4, Form 5, Lowersixth, and Uppersixth.

French section: Maternelle, CP, CE1, CE2, CM1, CM2, 6ème, 5ème, 4ème, 3ème, Seconde, Première, Terminale.
